Making Tax Digital — without changing how you work

If Making Tax Digital is on your mind and you're not quite sure what it means for you, you're in the right place. It needn't be a worry. I take care of the whole thing, so you can get on with running your business.

What Making Tax Digital means
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax changes the way sole traders and landlords report to HMRC. Instead of a single tax return each year, you keep digital records and send HMRC a short update every quarter, with a final summary after your year-end. It's being introduced in stages based on your income, so depending on what you earn it may apply to you from April 2026, 2027, or 2028. It's more to keep on top of than the old once-a-year return — which is exactly the part I take off your hands.

How I help

Making Tax Digital doesn't have to mean changing how you work. Keep your spreadsheet, your paper records, or your folder of receipts — carry on as you are, and I'll bridge the gap to HMRC for you. Prefer to move to software like Xero? I can set that up too, but it's your choice, not a requirement.  I handle the rest: keeping your records in order, submitting each quarterly update, and completing your final return — all filed with HMRC as your registered agent. No deadlines to track, no new systems to learn, no jargon. Just the reassurance that you're compliant, with no surprises.

Why me
My name is Mike Enever and I run The Books Man from Addingham, between Ilkley and Skipton. I'm a Certified Bookkeeper and a registered HMRC agent for Self Assessment, Corporation Tax, PAYE and VAT, I'm Xero certified, and I already look after Making Tax Digital for clients across Wharfedale as well as across the rest of the UK.  You deal with me directly — I will explain things clearly and simply — and my fees are agreed up front with no hidden charges.
